Eurovision Song Contest 2023 - The Aftermath

Image
Hi everyone, and welcome to the Eurovision aftermath post, where I go into a little bit more detail about the show & results, and some of the production aspects of the show. So first of all, I want to say that overall, the BBC did us really proud. The production was brilliant, and had a much more professional feel than last years contest in Italy did. I loved the colour scheme and designs, bar the graphic design on screen when introducing an entry, it felt too messy and confusing. In terms of the show, there was a nice feel and pace to it, we had very few awkward moments and pauses while we waited for things to be ready. Our hosts were all brilliant too, bringing an energy and good feeling vibe that I really enjoyed. Probably my main complaint this year was what felt like a lack of Ukrainian involvement in a lot of it. There was Ukrainian elements in the semi finals, particularly the interval acts, but it felt almost like a regular hosting, almost like the UK had won last year...

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Grand Final Part Two - The Results!

Image
Hello and welcome back to part two of the 2023 Eurovision song contest. It's just me here for the this part, as James has gone to cook dinner. Lucky me! At the end of the post, I will be sharing our results, and we shall see just how much it changes the results. So without further ado, let's continue on with the show!

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Grand Final Part One - The Songs

Image
Can you believe it's time for the final already? Only three years behind? Gosh this blog is catching up quick! At some point I will be in the present day, maybe I will have run out of things to write about by that point! Anyway, welcome to my review of the grand final of the 2023 contest, held in Liverpool! But at least you'll be able to understand my accent, rather than the harsh Scouser one you'll be hearing! In part one me and James will be reviewing all the songs and providing our expert opinions (or so I claim them to be), and then in the second part, I will be revealing our scores. Will it change the winner? Will the UK come last again? Or will Ukraine make it a second win in a row? Only time will tell. So sit back, relax, load the final up on Youtube (I'll try not to complain about the adverts too much) and follow along.

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 - Semi Final Two

Image
Hello and welcome back! We are continuing our rewatch of ESC 2023, and now it's time for the second semi final. I will of course be reviewing all of the songs, and at the end, I'll be sharing my votes. Will any of the qualifiers change? You'll have to read on and find out!

Eurovision Song Contest 2023 - Semi Final One

Image
Hello and welcome back to my review of Eurovision! May has rolled around quickly I hear you all saying! Our favourite musical contest has returned for another edition, and I will be here to provide my thoughts and feedback on all of the entries in the semi finals. And in the final James will also join me, and we will score all the entries to see if our points change any of the final results! So, without further ado, lets begin!

May 2023 - A coronation, cocktails and a big life change

Image
I suppose I should begin the post about May by mentioning the coronation. If you ask me of my humble opinion, it's that the monarchy is not needed. The monarchy in the UK has no real power, and therefore, no real use. We are seeing an increase in countries becoming republics and removing the historical ties with the monarchy, and I for one think that is a good thing. We are in the modern age, and wasting money & resources on a family that do not represent the views or the people of Britain is frivolous. There is no difference between the royal family and normal people like myself. They are only there because of their bloodline. And I think it's time we got rid of them. For once, let's take inspiration from the French and execute them all, at least it would give us all something different to talk about aside from the weather!  All joking aside, we are country that cannot seem to move forward and get our priorities straight. So let's begin by getting rid of things we...

April 2023 Part Two - The end of covid & a rather rude vegetable!

My second Kracie kit attemp, this time of an ice cream set. This one was much easier to make, and I'll be honest, tasted really quite nice with its generic berry flavour. My presentation skills need some more work, but in my defence, it's very hard to make something so tiny! Perhaps they would be better of being made by kids! I'll have to remember to buy these again for the kids for christmas. If you fancy attempting it yourself, search on Amazon for "Kracie cooking kits", they were really good fun!

April 2023 - Part One - Great customer service and a hidden gem.

April brought warmer weather still, and easter, and every year Mum tells us we are too old for easter eggs. No worries, I'm old enough to buy myself a bottle of easter wine!
