Secrets

We've all got dirty little secrets. Some of us, even have big, horrendously large secrets that lie just below the surface. Biding their time, waiting for the perfect moment to explode, taking out everything in the vicinity with them.

I like to think mine are small. They are little ones, that with any luck, if exposed would just quietly slip back into obscurity after a brief spell in the limelight. But as we all know, I am never that lucky.

Sometimes we share these dirty little secrets. Whether with friends, partners, family or just strangers. There will always be someone out there who knows about the secret, someone who understands the secret, someone who has a thrill from keeping the secret, and that one unashamed person who has the secret, and goes out to share it.

Sometimes they share it with people who are like minded.Hence, the secret becomes a public secret, hidden from the world, but shared between a select few.

It seems, that I am one of those people. I'm currently embroiled in a creative, and yet quite nervy game with a dastardly fiendish friend. It's a game of wit, intelligence, thrill, and of course, secrecy.

What is it about secrets that make them so intense? The fact you have been entrusted with something outside of common knowledge? Or maybe it's the rush of knowing you are trustworthy enough that the secret can be kept with you?

Truth be told, the reason you feel so intense, is because it makes you feel better about your own secrets. Suddenly, they are not so huge anymore. They stop being the huge elephant in the room, staring at you all hours with those wide, impassive, obsidian like black eyes. The new secret becomes your focus point, and for a little while, cast's a shade on your own secret.

Turns out my little secret is locked away, known only by one person, although it is soon to be two. I wonder if it will make their secrets seem that little bit hidden.
