January 2020

Thankfully, Christmas happens once a year and ends by new year, and then the next piece of hard work comes along, the sales, and then as that clears, all of the new stock coming in to replace it. No such thing as a finished job in retail.

Thankfully, we took good use of my weekend off and headed far away for a bit of recovery. James works for a delivery company, so you can imagine he was pleased for it all to be over as well! We headed up to Birmingham to visit his parents, where we spent some time feeding some hungry birds at the local park, who were so grateful for the free food that they flashed us thier bottoms! Well thats one way to say thanks!

There was this fun little ruined turret on the waters edge. Reminded me of a ruined lighthouse or some sort of Broch I'd seen on the internet, but for the life of me I cannot remember where it is! We then headed over to Lichfield, to have a look around the Cathedral and treat ourselves to some lunch. Interestingly, Lichfield is the only Cathedral in Europe to have three spires. Thats your interesting fact of the day!

The slightly less decorated side entrance and inside the cathedral.
The beautifully symmetrical frontage, with the three spires standing tall. It also gave me this wonderful picture of the spires peeking over the tops of the trees as we walked away.

The most important picture of all, this is James's parents cat Pebbles. She likes to have her own chair, is fussy over what she eats and drinks and gets James's mum to scare away the other cats who come on her territory. She's not one for petting, and has a mean scratch if you get too close, so this was the best picture I could get of her. Isn't she beautiful? You can see her watching me closely though! That is her chair!

We had a nice, chilled out weekend in Birmingham, before heading home. We made sure to break up the journey by making some new friends! In fact, James managed to make a lot of new friends!

These ones didnt even want to wait for him to get it out of the box for them, just went straight in for  first dibs on the best seed! You can see how cold it was, but that didnt stop the pigeons!
