Film Review: Parasite

Now Parasite, is a very special film indeed. When you strip it back to its absolute core, its a film about envy. Envy of those with, by those without. And that gives us the premise of the film.

It's beautifully shot, there are beautiful wide and sweeping shots of the Park's family home, whereas the shots inside the basement flat are tight and claustraphobic. Its a very clear and obvious paralell between the two families.

It's billed as a dark comedy. And that is a perfect description. There were moments that genuinly made me laugh, and several moments that really made me think about the world we live in.

It's also a very immersive film, you will find it near on impossible to look away at any point. And the film is made so well and the acting so good, the subtitles are jut filler for the detail, you could probably watch the film without them and still understand everything. That is the sign of a very well made film.

I think the film deserved every award it recieved, and I think it was so so good that a foreign language film finally won an oscar. It seems the bias against non English language films is finally being broken down. And that it s a very good thing. The world has many many different stories to share, and in many languages too.

You just have to look for them.

Parasite 10/10
