Fort William
After a long day driving from Inverness and spending time searching for Nessie, we eventually arrived in Fort William.
We actually discovered a near fully ruined castle by the river, and had a little look inside. It's just a few walls, and the remains of some turrets, but it was nice to stretch our legs for a bit.
You can see how little is left, but judging by the fencing and scaffolding, it looks like some restoration work was being performed, which is really good, as we should be trying to preserve as much of our heritage as possible.
We stayed in a nice but run down hotel, where staff argued in the corridors, and we felt like two old women going to the beach for a holiday. There was a pool there, and it was nice to sit and soak in the water and chat for a bit, until the Scottish woman with two kids came over to use, told us to swim more talk less, told me that I looked like a thirty year old, and told us how much she missed living in Bournemouth. It was weird, also made weirder, by the fact she was the spitting image of my uncles ex-girlfriend, who was also Scottish.
But anyway, we had dinner, played some chess in the evening, before heading further south.
