Tough with a capital T...
Hey all, and a good morning to you all.
Ive just finished my night shift, and i feel surprsingly okay with the fact i have been awake since 10 am yesterday and have managed to move the whole of Per Una. And when i say the whole i mean the whole of it. Every last morsel. All the glass walls, every counter, every arm every garment, every handbag, the full works. I must say, it does look really good, the best bit is the back wall of collection three, the orange and the black mirror each other and it looks AMAZING! Drop in and let me know what you think ahaha.
Im putting off going home, purely because it means i will sit in bed, and i will think to myself, oh a ten minute power nap wont hurt, then i'll wake it up it will be four in the afternoon and i will have a manic rush to get ready for the cinema tonight. So instead i thought i would stay awake, blog for a bit, then go home, get changed and go off to Ikea to get those draws and hopefully be treated to some breakfast. With any luck, that will be done by 11am, so i can sleep til 3ish, which means a couple of hours kip, while leaving me time to get ready. In theory. Im not well known for the accuracy of my plans, they usually go tits up and i end up starting at the wrong end. Well there always has to be one hasn't there.
I think i am on a better streak. Im managing to form a loose plot line in my head, im not sure where its going, or even what it really is going to mean, but i think it might be something good. Theres a few other bits floating around in my head as well, nothing anything too interesting, but a few bits and bobs that might prove useful.
"Three" Sheila called from downstairs. Im still panicking, i can't find anywhere to hide. I am far too tall to be hiding. I consider going behind the curtains, but i notice someone is already there.
"Two" Sheila calls again. I thought this was supposed to be an adult gathering? why are we playing hide and seek? I kneel down to slide under the bed, but four pairs of eyes look back at me. "No space" one of them hisses like a snake.
"One!" Sheila shouts with excitement. Despite my reluctance to play, i find myself desperatly wanting not to be the first to be found. I open Sheila's wardrobe, and instantly know there is no way a mouse could fit in there, let alone me.
"Ready or not!" Come's a loud cry. I stand in her near empty washing basket, and curl up into a ball, and just manage to slide the lid across the top. A childish scream comes from the bathroom, as someone is found. Thank god, i really didn't want to be found first.
More shouts, this time from the spare room next to us. I can hear laughter and shrieks all around the house. I hear the bedroom door burst open, and soon everyone is found. Except for me. They run around the house, looking in every nook and cranny, But for some reason, my little bunker is undiscoverd. I hear Sheila and her best friend Marcy sit on the bed, its springs squeaking in protest.
"I wonder where he is" Sheila says. "He's so tall and lanky, how would he even hide anywhere?"
Maybe he's in the chimney" Marcy replies, and gets up to look. Sheila gives a cackle of laughter.
"Oh i dunno, he certainly is good at hiding, i mean he's always hiding from me" Sheila says, sounding a little bit hurt. My ears prick up like a coyotes.
"What do you mean?" Marcy asks, cracking her knuckles.
"Its just...oh i don't know, everytime i go to talk to him, something always happens, he always gets called away to the hospital, or his sister phones and asks him to babysit, or he even decides to have an allergic reaction to something"
Marcy unsucessfully stifled a giggle. "Well, why not ask him tonight?"
My heart is racing, i hold my breath, im so deeply interested, i forget about everything. "its not true" i want to shout to her. "I want this too, it just never comes at the right time!". But instead i remain silent.
"I suppose i could, Well i could, but i dont know, im so nervous, what if he dosn't say yes?"
Marcy murmours something i dont hear. "Well" She says, sounding confused. "If you like him that much, why not just say? At least if its out in the open then you can both decide what to do"
Somebody calls Marcy downstairs. Sheila stays sat on the bed. she fiddles with something for a moment, before standing up and walking around.
"Who on earth has been going through my wardrobe?" She asks aloud.
"Sorry i didn't mean to" I reply without thinking. She gives a scream, and falls backwards, smacking her head on the edge of the radiator.
"I guess you will never get to ask me out now" I said softly, stroking her strawberry blonde hair, as the gradual beeping slows, before stopping complelty. The silence cuts me like a knife.
Its a bit morbid i know, but i love the difference between the childishness of the whole situation, of playing hide and seek, of the worrying of who to ask out, it all seems so trivial by the time i get to the end.
Sometimes though, i love to create twists like that, usually ones people dont expect. Im sure some people probably thought the twist was going to be her opening the basket and finding him, i hope no one expected that ending at all. For some reason, i find writing about death quite peaceful, even though sometimes it can be a horribly violent event. I just think that its such an interesting topic, one of the few things everyone has, and will experience, and something everyone has a view on. To me, death isn't something to be feared. To me, death is something to be looked forward to, something to embrace, call me morbid, macarbe, whatever you like, but the way i look at it, Death is just another event in your life. It might be then end of your life as we know it, but at the same time, it could be something even more glorious. Obviously im not going to kill myself just to experience it (unless i hear there is a shortage of places in hell, where i may think about it :P) but i just would like to know what happens. It might be tomorrow, next week, or even in a hundred years, but all the same, its just another chapter in my life.
I think i will cheer you up with a hilarious joke i found on Tumblr, ages ago, but i still remember and still never cease's to tickle me when i need it most.
Archeaologists in Egypt have just discoved the ancient buriel tomb of a unknown pharoah. The pharoah was found in a sarcophagas coverd in chocolate and nuts. They decided to call him Pharoah Roche.
It might be awful, but its damn good.
The catering unit is getting busy, theres loads of people in at 7am today. Loads i recognise, some i dont. The ladies from A&A are the loudest as usual ;) . Im really lucky to work with such an amazing bunch of people. You can guarentee that when at work, and even most of the time outside of work, there is always someone who will help you when you need it most. Sometimes its as simple as sharing a corney joke like the one above on those days where nothing is going right, to coming to your defence on the tills when a customer starts getting really in your face.
The most interesting part of working in retail, is that everyday is different. Yes we do the same jobs everyday, On the tills, the fitting room, putting out stock, etc, but everyday you get to meet someone new, you get to meet someone who is very different to you, who has such wildly different opinions and beliefs to you, but it is so interesting! Im not even joking, the things you can hear while serving the general british public is astonishing. You hear gossip about people you dont even know, you can learn facts about things you never even knew exsited, and the best bit? You can make someones day, just by smiling and asking them how they are. And that is what i love most about my job, that i can chat to all kinds of people, and i really learn about what makes people tick. I only wish it paid more. But im fine with that. I wont be able to do this forever, i know i won't, but at the moment its the place i want to be.
All the seven oclock starters have gone, and a few stragglers are just turning up. One of my best friends, just said i should write a book about this place, which in all fairness i probably could! Youd never believe half the things that would be in it though! I could call it 50 Shades of customer service :D. And one of the really handsome guys from the operations team is here drinking a coffee. He is lovely, he's good looking and he is a proper decent bloke, which to be honest is just as important.
Ive just realized how hungry i am, Donna the catering lady is just preparing everything so she can cook breakfast for everyone. While i dont use the staff canteen every day, its so nice to sometimes be able just to come up on my break and have a nice hot homecooked meal. They are getting rid of the kitchen area, so from the end of febuary i will have to remember to bring lunch in everyday!
I think that just about wraps everything i wanted to share up. I think this is possibly the longest post i have ever made. But anyway, onwards and upwards!
