Ciao Milano! Part Tre!

Whenever I see somewhere with a display of bones, I feel a compelling need to visit. No, I'm not a dog, but nothing looks better than a good, artistic display of bones. I've visited Sedlec Ossuary in Czechia, I've done the Paris catacombs, and now, I'm visiting the San Bernadino Alle Ossa.

White the beauty of the building does not compare to Milan's Cathedral, it has a lovely warm feel to it as you enter, with these pastel tones and circular windows letting in plenty of light. You then head into the chapel/Ossuary, where there is these delightful displays and patterns of bones. The chapel was rebuilt in 1712 after a fire which destroyed the preceding buildings, and this is the structure you see today. There's something so fascinating about staring at bones, because out of something sad when loosing someone, there can be something so beautiful and interesting made of it. It's also worth taking a moment to gaze into the beautiful fresco on the ceiling, depicting the angels welcoming you into this sacred space.

Feeling inspired by our visit, we headed over to the Basilica di Santo Stefano Maggiore, with its charming bell tower and impressive barrel vault ceiling. But it was very dark in there, save for a spotlight on the altar area which created a creepy shadow. Perfect setting for a gothic horror if you ask me though!

Beautiful, but creepy, we kept expecting some sort of demon to suddenly appear, or some exorcism to take place!

We then headed to the world of Leonardo Da Vinci, which was located in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, which contains several of his inventions built, as well as the opportunity to make your own, see his art and learn about some of the things he designed. Tickets were 15 euros, and when we visited, there was a no photos policy, so I can't show you what it was like inside. But it was quite fun, and we especially enjoyed trying to make our own inventions, which no doubts about it, were terrible. And I'm so glad other people have to do the inventing for me, because otherwise nothing would get done!
