June 2019 - Part One
June always seems to be a good temperature. The weather is more consistent that May, but the heat is less than July. Its a perfect month to go out and explore. Someone that may disagree, is the many ducks we feed. They don't seem to care what the temperature is, or what the weather is doing, as long as people are coming over to say hello and give them some food. Ducks are very fickle like that!
These one's were brave enough to eat out of James's hand, but were rewarded with first dibs on the choice of bird food!
There was also some beautiful cygnets there as well, although we gave each other some space, as swans can be very defensive if they think you are getting too close to them! We called in here at Black Dams pond in Basingstoke, we were just on our way home from Basingstoke after going to do some shopping there. Its a lovely little place, and there's always plenty of feathered friends!
June is also the month of my birthday, and so we had a little tea party in the garden a couple of days before with the family round. Id made a trifle, quiches, kebabs, even a yule log! (Its probably the only Christmas food I eat all year round)
Couldn't fit much more in the fridge! Had to leave a couple of bits in the cool box to stay cool.
My teriyaki salmon and dill quiche, along with my sumac and honey marinade beef strip kebab. Both were delicious!
There was also the police annual open day at the Netley Police centre outside Southampton, there was a range of old police cars, you got to see the police dogs in action taking down a man dressed as the Michelin man, while the local fire brigade gave us a tour of the fire engine and showed just how high their ladders go!
This was on a wall in the main building showing you the evolution of crime in the Southampton area over time. Fancy using a rowing boat to catch thieves! I wonder how successful they were?
Thank god I don't live in a building that tall, I don't think Id be able to get down a ladder that high with much speed!
Remember to wear sunscreen before a hot event like this, or cover up a best as you can. Here's James sporting his new sunglasses before we went out for the day!
