May 2021 - Part Two - The Supermoon & Beautiful Birds!
May also brought the super moon! How spooooooooky! I was working the late shift that night, and while walking back home through the park, I saw the reflection in the waters of the pond there. It's not the greatest photo, but my god was it beautiful!
May also meant that we could get the BBQ out and finally do some proper outdoor cooking! Who wants the last piece of chicken?
James also took me to visit the Grange. It's free to visit, but only the exterior is open to visitors. It's this fantastic Greek style mansion in a beautiful area of the countryside. The scaffolding in front is in preparation for a show, in the summer evenings, they host opera concerts. It always seems to be fully booked, but if you get a chance to visit this magical place and watch an opera, I would thoroughly recommend it! Head to their website for more details. Pollen allergies? Maybe avoid! I've never seen so much before! This was at the Arundel Wetland Centre, a fantastic place to see many different bird species together in one area. It's a really informative and well looked after centre, with plenty of staff able to answer any questions you have, and to point out some of the rarer birds.
I know these are Canada Geese, but they were so funny, the little goslings kept running around and tripping over, and then they all snuck behind a sign that said "Sorry, area closed". Proof that if you're a goose, you have the credentials to go anywhere.
Was lovely to sit and chill with these ducks in the field of daisies!
They've got several different habitats you can see the birds in, in this giant pond with a glass side so you can watch them diving and swimming, there's also a huge aviary you can walk though and say hello to them all. You're not allowed to feed them which is a shame, but otherwise, it's a really great experience. Adult tickets start at £14.50, which is a little pricey, but well worth it. And if you book in advance online, there is a 10% discount. Just if you're going when it's going to be hot, make sure to take protection, sun cream, hats sunglasses etc, there's not a lot of shady places there unless you're in the bird watching huts or the main visitor centre. You can find out more on their website Arundel Wetfowl Centre. How many feathered friends will you make on your visit?
