Bodrum

After the busyness of Antalya, it was nice to take things a little slower in Bodrum. An idyllic Turkish town on the coast, it's got a buzzing day time scene, and from what I saw, an even more buzzing night scene.

That aside, there's few must sees in Bodrum. The antique amphitheatre is one of them, just say hello to the ticket office attendant as you walk in, as it's still used for concerts now. The warren like old town is fascinating to wonder through, and there's great places to sit and eat and watch the world go by.

But first, a gripe. One of the seven wonders of the world, the mausoleum at Halicarnassus is in Bodrum. There's not much left, very littler information, and the little museum bit is locked shut and with no entry. So I wouldn't bother with it personally, unless you're tickling them from a list.

But, a nicer thing to do, is to head to the coast, and climb the large hill that acts as a weather break to the city, where the remains of several old windmills live. Although most are ruined, and some covered in graffiti, it's a quiet and pleasant (if furiously windy) area, to spend some time. It also gives you great views of the bay too.

Here's some pictures from Bodrum.
