Wroclaw
From Gdansk I went to Poznan (Which will come later) and from Poznan, Wroclaw is an easy day trip away. Two hours by train to gnomeland you could say. There's hundreds of them, dotted all round the city, acting out scenes of day to day life. Using cashpoint's, playing instruments, even passing out on bowls of food. They are an absolute delight to see, and it's quite a challenge to see them all! Heres just a few.
Arn't they just the most adorable little statues you've ever seen?
Its always worth heading up a vantage point. I think it was the cathedral, but the tall brick tower in the centre has a magnificent view, thats if youre brave enough to head up the narrow spiral staircase of a thousand steps.
The other fun thing to do, (particularly if its heavy rain, which it turned into that day) is Kolejkowo. Its a model city and countryside, hidden just away from the centre of Wroclaw, but it's good fun, and the level of detail in the models is rather extraordinary.
And just one other thing. Wroclaw is home to some of Poland's most vicious crocodiles. Always carry a balloon to defend yourself ;)
